Persabus, one of the many Viking farms on Islay ,meaning ‘’abode of the priest’’the farm dates back well over a thousand years. The current farm buildings were built and run by a lead mining company approximately 400 years ago, and has been farmed by the Fletcher family for nearly a hundred years. The farm has some of the most spectacular views of the sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura. There is no lead mining now, but sheep farming and highland cattle. There are plenty of walking & cycling routes(bike hire also available) or hills to climb. If you fancy a wee “dram”, there’s the Caol Ila distillery, one mile away, or Bunnahabhain just up the road. The farm now has two self-catering accommodation cottages for hire, all fitted out to a very high standard. For more information click on www.persabus.co.uk
